Biography:

Abdelkader Outzourhit holds a PhD degree in Applied Physics from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO, USA (1992), a Master’s degree in physics from the same school in 1989 and a bachelor degree from the Cadi Ayyad University in 1985. He is currently a professor at the department of physics of the Faculty of Sciences, Cadi Ayyad University (in Marrakech, Morocco) as well as a lecturer at the Mohamed VI Polytechnic University. His research is centered on the fabrication of novel, efficient and solar cells and the integration of renewable energy sources in novel applications.  He participated in several EU-funded projects on renewable energies, desalination and hybrid systems (JatroMed, HYRESS, ADIRA). He also led several national projects on renewables (HYBRIDBATH, TAHALAGRID, PPR2 on Novel Solar Cells based on perovskites) and MediOpuntia (EranetMed). He participated in Erasmus+ projects QESAMED, AFREQEN and PROEMED destined to boosting quality, RE and energy efficiency in Africa. He authored and co-authored more than 250 articles covering thin films, solar cells, renewable energies, bio-energy, batteries and photocatalysis. He headed the Solid-state Physics and Thin Films Laboratory (now Laboratory of   Materials, Energy and Environment). His expertise includes the integration of renewable energy sources in various applications (decentralized electrification, desalination, biofuels, and hydrogen generation.) in addition to optimization of energy performances of RE systems and buildings. He was the ex-director of the Center for Analysis and Characterization at the Cadi Ayyad University for more than nine years. He coordinated several graduate and undergraduate programs at the university on renewables and nanomaterials (master degree, DESA, and bachelor). He authored/co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed articles.
