Prof. Irene Samy Fahim is an associate Professor, Industrial and Service Engineering and Management department, Nile University Cairo, Egypt and the Director for Smart Engineering systems research center, Nile University. She earned in 2018 a Diploma of development practice, Regis University, Denver, USA. She received her PhD in Mechanical Engineering, The American University in Cairo (AUC). Egypt in 2015. Before that, she earned my Masters and BSC in Mechanical Engineering, AUC. She won several awards, including the state encouragement award for women 2020, the Hazem Ezzat Research excellence award, 2021 and the L’Oreal UNESCO for Women in Science 2021 Egypt young talents program. She received a grant for Egypt Higher Education Climate change partnerships Grants in collaboration with Nottingham University and the British council. Prof. Samy also received a grant for capacity building for “Women in Science and Engineering” from the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. She was selected in 2019 to be among the members of the first scientific council of the Egyptian Young Academy of Sciences (EYAS) as a part of the Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (ASRT) to empower and encourage young Egyptian scientists in science and technology. She participated in Fulbright Junior Faculty program for renewable energy in 2016. She was also a part of an Entrepreneurship and leadership Program, 1000Women, Goldman Sachs,2016 which was executed at AUC for 6 Months. She won Newton Mosharfa institutional link award for two years in collaboration with Nottingham University, UK. for manufacturing plastic bags from natural materials where she was acknowledged by Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for her work at the 3rd National Youth Conference in Ismailia, April 2017. She is a senior IEEE member, a member in the Power Africa steering committee, volunteer in IEEE Smart Village committee and treasurer of IEEE CIS Chapter, Egypt. Moreover, she was one of the members in the Events Committee of the IEEE Humanitarian Activities, 2018. She was also the technical chair for the first IEEE SIGHT Egypt ideation camp 2018. She is currently a member of the impartial committee of the body for granting certificates of conformity for products, the General Organization for the Control of Exports, and Imports. She is also one of topical advisory panel, in Polymers Journal, MDPI, a member of the Coronavirus Global R&I Collaboration Portal and a member in the Leaders in Innovation alumni society, Royal academy of Engineering, and a member in the Egyptian National Network Nanotechnology.

Mr. Abdullatif Aliyu

Mr. Abdullatif Aliyu is an accomplished General Manager of Projects at Phase 3 Telecom. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bayero University Kano and a master’s degree in ICT from the Northern University of Malaysia. Abdullateef has a certification from USTTI in Washington DC, He is a renewable energy enthusiast and a certified business analyst.

Abdullateef previously worked at Suburban West Africa and joined Phase 3 Telecom in 2013. He played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s optical aerial and underground infrastructure, spanning over 6000 km. He led the successful implementation of Phase 3 Telecom’s 100G transmission network backbone nationwide.

Abdullateef is a distinguished senior member of IEEE and currently chairs the IEEE Student Activities Committee in Region 8 as Vice Chair of Student Activities in Region 8. He founded the IEEE Smart Village Africa Working group in 2020 that now has representatives in 44 Africa Countries with over 800 members and volunteers. He is a Chartered Engineer with certifications including CSM, PMP, CBA, and CQIA. He is also a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers and Council for the Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

Abdullateef has received several awards and accolades, including recognition from Phase 3 Telecom, IEEE Smart Village, IEEE Region 8, IEEE Nigeria Section, NSE Maitama branch, MGA Board, and IEEE R8 ASYP Congress.

Mr. Ken Stauffer

Mr. Ken Stauffer has spent 30+ years in the telecommunications industry. He began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ after receiving his AAS from Vaughn College, a BSEE from Pratt, and an MSEE from Polytechnic University in New York City. At Bell Labs, Ken worked in Data Services Performance where he and the team designed a system called Packet-ASPEN to measure performance in packet networks and to establish a Data Applications Labs. Later, Ken moved into the International Operations Group to design and deploy AT&T’s Global Network Management Center in NYC, and to deploy the Centers in Europe alongside a Pan-European Frame Relay network. For AT&T’s Global Strategy and Business Development Group, Ken developed business and technical models for WORLDPARTNERS2, participated in the creation of CONCERT, the AT&T/BT Joint Venture, and managed AT&T’s business relationship with Japan Telecom in Japan.
Ken left AT&T in 2000 to become an entrepreneur as part of a management team founding EPIK Communications–a $460M start-up in Florida. He designed EPIK’s advanced services strategy, created both the Product Innovation Group and EPIK Labs, implemented a suite of “enlightened” IP and Ethernet products, and served as EPIK’s Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Technology Officer. He also led a team to create the vision for “The NAP in 2011of the Americas” in Miami which was later sold by Terremark to Verizon in 2011 for $1.4B.
In Jan 2003, Ken formed Technology Assurance Labs to provide consulting, design, and testing services to venture capital groups, network equipment manufacturers, and service providers. He also founded Cypress Equipment, a product sales company. Starting in 2010, Technology Assurance Labs develop RFID products for the rail industry and IoT products for the propane and natural gas industry.  Ken served as CEO for both companies for 15 years, before stepping down to become Chair of the Board of Directors.
Ken was born and raised in Tanzania, East Africa, he is a Life Senior Member of IEEE, and he co-founded the IEEE Entrepreneurship Initiative in 2015. He currently serves as the 2020 Chair of the IEEE Entrepreneurship Steering Committee and the Chair of the Vaughn College Board of Trustees in NYC.
