Instructions/Template for Poster PresentationNew

    • The organizing committee has allocated one poster board to each presentation.
    • The maximum and recommended poster size is 590mm high by 890mm wide (portrait format).
    • The organizing committee will supply the necessary means to mount the poster.
    • The presenter is asked to check with the session chair the place of his/her poster.
    • The presenter is asked to mount his/her poster 30 min before the start of the session and should remove it immediately after the end of the session.
    • The title of your poster paper should be done in block letters with font 100 pts.
    • All text must be easily readable from a distance of 1 to 2 meters.
    • All graphs and charts should be readable and crafty.
    • Follow the poster template posted on the website.

Call for Postgraduate Forum Paper

IEEE PES-IAS Power Africa Conference 2018 will organize a PG Forum on “Powering Africa: Affordable and Clean Emerging Energy Solutions for Sustainable Development”. The objective of the forum is to create a stimulating environment for graduate students to discuss their on-going research work with peers and experienced researchers from academia and industries. The target audiences of the forum are  PhD students, recently graduated PhDs, supervisors, conference attendees, and master students planning to continue PhD studies in  themes covered by  the IEEE PES-IAS Power Africa Conference (Infrastructure Advances, Energy Access Frameworks and Policies, Transforming and Renewing Centralised Systems, Resilient Services from Energy, Water and Health, Innovation in Components and Systems ).  The forum will be organized as a poster session.

Current PhD students and researchers who completed their PhD dissertations in 2017 are encouraged to submit full-length paper (6 pages). Submissions will be reviewed to ensure quality and relevance. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to attend IEEE PES-IAS Power Africa 2018 and present their work in form of a poster at the PG Forum. The best dissertation will be awarded during the conference.  .

Submission Guidelines

Graduate students are invited to submit a full-length paper (maximum 6 pages)  describing current research and achieved results in themes related to the IEEE PES-IAS Power Africa Conference 2018. The paper should include the authors’ names (student and supervisor), affiliation, and email address. Submissions must be PDF files, written in English, and should adhere to the IEEE format. The paper should have the following structure:

  • Title of the dissertation/ proposal
  • Abstract: describes the area of the thesis
  • keywords
  • Background about the topic
  • Previous work: You are expected to describe previous works
  • Goal of the thesis:
  • Possible outcomes
  • Methodologies: Describe the tools/ hardware that you will are planning to use and the data set, how would you disseminate the results, etc.
  • Timeline: The PhD thesis should solve complex and challenging problem. You should provide the subtasks and the time to complete those tasks.
  • Current status: List of achieved results, solved subtasks or planned results
  • References

  • Submission date: Feb. 28th, 2018
  • Notification date: March.15th, 2018
  • Camera ready paper: March 20th, 2018
